In the original story of The Riddle of the Sands, two Englishmen sailing a yacht in the Frisian islands of the North Sea discover evidence of German military preparations to go to war and invade England. That was the plot of Erskine Childers’s novel of 1903, based on his yachting logs of several years before. It was the first of the spy novel genre – a best-seller, and a political warning at a time when few in the UK took German intentions and war plans seriously.
In this week’s broadcast, the newest German plot is discussed for war against Russia, culminating in the involvement of German officials and Green Party politicians in the operation to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines last September. The new machination is 400 kilometres to the east of the old Childers plot.
Did a yacht sailing from Rostock around the Darss peninsula rendezvous with a team of British-trained Ukrainian divers, their diving equipment, and a cargo of explosive which had been flown from Poland into an old Luftwaffe airfield? Was the yacht a decoy while the operational vessel was concealed or camouflaged by others moving above the pipelines in coordination?
What is revealed about the plot from the recovery of the detonation residues on the seabed and the bomb which reportedly failed to go off remains in the secret keeping of investigators from Germany, Denmark and Sweden. But how to tell the fact – motive, weapon, modus operandi, perpetrators — from the fiction appearing in the German and US press? These questions are asked and answered in the new broadcast.
Also breaking news is the Kinzhal raid of Thursday night – a salvo of six hypersonic Kh-47 missiles – which reportedly hit secret underground bunkers in Kiev and Lvov and dozens of Ukrainian and NATO officers directing the war in the east.
The broadcast winds up with an explanation of why Georgia cannot afford the latest US and European Union-inspired protests against Russia – and also why the Georgian government’s beggarly state budget can’t afford not to do what it is being told.
The mainstream and alternative media coverage of the Nord Stream bombing operations is voluminous in both English and German. The accounts are partial; contradictory; deceptive; false; and also credible. They confirm earlier reporting on this website of perpetrators from the Ukraine, Poland, Germany, UK, and US. There are particles and elements of truth in much of this reporting; for example, the most recent report by the New York Times of Polish involvement in the explosives.
Understanding the geography of the pipes on the Baltic seabed, and the locations of the modus operandi starts with these maps:
In 2019 this is how the Nord Stream pipelines were located and Nord Stream-2 was being laid in comparison with the Baltic pipeline delivering gas from Norway to Poland; the latter was inaugurated on the same day as Nord Stream was destroyed, September 26, 2022.

The mapping by German reporters, US and other bloggers, and German sources for this broadcast illustrates the reported Rostock yacht sightings; the attack locations; and other surface shipping movements on or about the time of the attack. They start with this German map of the 1939-45 period, identifying the military airfield which became a Soviet one (1) and the commercial airfield near Barth which is still in operation (2). Covert air delivery of divers, diving equipment, and explosives would be possible at either airfield, followed by truck transport to a yacht, another vessel at sea, or for beach launch of a miniature submarine.

None of these operations is likely to have occurred without German officials knowing in advance, or participating in the course of the operation, or both, or having full knowledge of the operation – motive, weapon, modus operandi – now. The principal officials are the heads of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Bruno Kahl and Major-General Werner Sczesny, and the minister to whom they report in the Berlin government, Wolfgang Schmidt. Kahl and Szcesny are appointees of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) government under Chancellor Angela Merkel. Unusually, they have been kept in their posts by the new chancellor Olaf Scholz and his coalition government from December 2021. Schmidt is a member of Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD).
The New York and Berlin-sourced reports of the Nord Stream attack are keeping secret what these three officials know; who authorized them to know and to act in Scholz’s government; when and why.

A German source who has sailed in these waters and is familiar with the port berth and depth charts, as well as the yacht capacities and road connections to and from the airfields, has provided this map of the sightings reported of the alleged yacht movement into the attack location:
Key: 1=Rostock; 2=Wieck at Darß island; 3=Wieck at Rügen island; 4=Bornholm island (Denmark)
A German yachting publication has mapped the yacht sightings with the locations of the pipeline gas leaks at the time of the attack. This publication also provides photographs of the interior and dimensions of the yacht reportedly used in the operation, either to transport the diving team and the explosives, or as a decoy at the time and diversion now from the actual modus operandi.

In the second segment, the evidence of the Russian missile, drone and bombing raid on Ukrainian targets of last Thursday, March 9, is discussed. Strikes on electricity generating plants and the power distribution grid also stopped electric-powered trains from running, forcing scarce diesel locomotives on to priority military trains, and delaying or halting the movement of the Polish corridor for men, materiel, and NATO’s promised new weapons.

According to Polish and US sources, the electric war campaign has now broken the capacities of the Ukrainian and NATO governments to repair, deliver, and deploy the logistical infrastructure supplying the eastern front, and make up for the losses there of combat capacities. The emergency attempts to send electricity generation and distribution parts and replacements is causing highly unusual delays in domestic procurement inside the US.
Not only has the impact of the electric war campaign dropped out of mainstream media coverage, so too has the strategic significance of the Russian firing of a salvo of hypersonic Kinzhal (“Dagger”) missiles on Thursday evening. Ukrainian military disclosures and propaganda published by the Financial Times over the weekend reveal that the NATO-supplied air defence systems cannot detect, intercept or defend against the Kinzhal; that in firing six Kinzhals for the first time the Russian General Staff have demonstrated they are far from running short of supplies; and that the high-cost, high-precision weapons were targeted on Ukrainian and NATO war staffs concealing themselves in civilian buildings in Kiev and Lvov.
According to the Ukrainian military sources for the London newspaper, “Russia fired 81 missiles, including six Kh-47 Kinzhals at targets across Ukraine. It was the first mass strike away from the front lines in more than three weeks. Three thermal power stations were hit… only 38 of the 81 missiles were intercepted, while another eight were knocked off target by countermeasures. That is a notably lower interception rate than the 80 per cent notched up by Ukraine’s air defence forces earlier this year. The missiles destroyed were mostly subsonic cruise missiles and slow-flying attack drones. None of the 25 high-speed or ballistic missiles of various types, including the Kinzhals, were shot down. Ukraine’s air force said it did not have the capability to do so.”
The newspaper also reported: “A senior Ukrainian official told the Financial Times that his country is hoping to soon receive its first batches of Patriot air defence systems promised by the US and European countries. The Patriot is the most advanced medium-range air defence system the west can offer — but it has not been tested against Kinzhals. A similar system, the Aster Samp/T, promised by France and Italy, is also yet to arrive.” .Source: https://www.ft.com/
The Ukrainians omitted to tell, and the newspaper failed to report, that the targets for the Kinzhal have been concealed. This is the start of a decapitation campaign aimed at the secret locations of the Ukrainian and NATO war staffs between Kiev and Lvov; the civilian shields which the Ukrainians and NATO allies are using have not been attacked on the railroad lines.
A search for this part of the story came up with just one Russian report that the missile targets included “a bunker extending to 80 metres deep…near Lvov [which] was a NATO strategic command point used to control anti-aircraft systems [where] there were up to 300 personnel in the bunker, 40 of which were high ranking foreign specialists.”
In the final segment of the broadcast, the political and economic implications of the US and German effort to finance protests against Russia among unemployed Georgian youth are described and discussed. Here is the table of unemployment rates, published by the European Union’s official Eurostat organisation in a report updated to this month. almost half the males (40.1%) and more than one-third of the female population (38.2%) under the age of 24 are unemployed. In no other country of Europe or the Caucasus is the situation for young people so dire.
The leverage this has provided the two principal government donors to Georgia, the US and Germany, is being tightened at the official level by the new International Monetary Fund (IMF) economic management plan for the country; this has been prepared between last December and last month. The IMF believes that if there is a significant deterioration in Georgia’s trade, remittance, and tourism earnings from Russia, the country’s external debt will balloon, and its means for repaying the debt dwindle, as GDP growth will reverse from last year’s recovery and head towards zero. Dependency on foreign aid, which hit almost $700 million in 2020 and $550 million in 2021, will increase.
Read the just concluded report after the IMF staff visited Tbilisi in February. “Growth is expected to ease this year”, the staff announced on February 23, “against the background of unusually high uncertainty, policy priorities include sufficiently tight monetary policy, exchange rate flexibility, and a further building up of fiscal and foreign exchange buffers.”
This “high uncertainty” grew even higher when demonstrations began in Tbilisi on March 7 against the enactment of a new law to identify US, German, and European Union sources of money promoting anti-Russian non-governmental organisations. Here’s the US state propaganda version of what was happening.
And here’s the much tougher version of the law which the US Department of Justice has been enforcing since 1938. In the recent history of that statute, US prosecutors have used the law to pursue Iraqi, Russian, Chinese and Indian targets. The fabricated case of espionage against Maria Butina between 2018 and 2019 resulted in her conviction and imprisonment under the foreign agents’ registration act.
