In the four days between April 1 and April 5, President Donald Trump made a record of the collapse of his mind into genocidal violence which none of his officials can dissuade, limit, control, if they try,  or even conceal. Not the military experts of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; not the pollsters of the White House Chief of Staff; not the lawyers of the White House Counsel; not even the spell-checkers of the Director of Communications.

Between declaring “we’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages where they belong” and “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell. JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah”, Trump revealed that he thinks there can be no alternative for a state or a people or a god but submission or destruction. Theirs, or his.

In Moscow, there has been silence except for Trump’s advocate inside the Kremlin, Kirill Dmitriev. He has tweeted in support of Trump’s attacks on one of his domestic bugbears, the New York Times, and one of his foreign ones, Europe.

This record has been compiled by analysing Trump’s remarks from his rehearsal of the “Stone Ages” line just before his national television speech at 9 pm on April 1 [3]  through his early morning tweet on April 5 [4];    putting them in the sequence out of Trump’s mouth and time log of their publication [5];   and then locating them in the chain of official meetings and other activities, including inactivities and secrets, identified in the published [6] “Presidential Public Schedule”.

The words speak for themselves. For political analysis of the April 1 speech, read this [7].  The legal standard for genocide includes both intention as Trump has expressed it in this record and acts as he has both threatened and decided, then celebrated in this record. This is how the United Nations sets the standard [8]: “To constitute genocide, there must be a proven intent on the part of perpetrators to physically destroy a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. Cultural destruction does not suffice, nor does an intention to simply disperse a group. It is this special intent, or dolus specialis, that makes the crime of genocide so unique. In addition, case law has associated intent with the existence of a State or organizational plan or policy, even if the definition of genocide in international law does not include that element.”

Trump’s words and the calendar context in which he said them do more than this.

The April 1 speech was composed by a committee of advisors who met with him at 3 pm to compose the final draft. In the Calendar, this is noted as a “policy meeting”. According to the account of White House decision-making reported by Time Magazine [9] on April 2, and the motives of the anonymous sources and leakers behind it, there is a deep division in Trump’s policy-making group on the risks he is running in continuing the war against Iran, and escalating instead of exiting from it.

In normal White House practice, the final speech draft should have reflected a compromise between those recommending escalation and those in favour of exit. There are traces of both in the text Trump read from the prompter six hours after the meeting had begun. But the balance was tipped to escalation. In the key phrase Trump used [3], “We’re going to bring them back to the stone ages, where they belong,”  he was escalating. He also using a phrase he had rehearsed tentatively in a tweet posted after his “policy meeting” had begun, but before it concluded. Then he said [10]: “We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”

In form, this was conditional. More plainly so than the form in which Trump repeated the phrase in the final speech text. Just how ineffectual the exit faction of advisors had been is indicated by the telltale qualifier in the tweet – “or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”  The fact is that no one says Stone Ages; the reason is obvious to schoolchildren – there was only one. However, no one on Trump’s staff, no one at the policy meeting of April 1, dared to tell him so, or to correct the phrase. The President then repeated it without the qualifier. At 9 in the evening of April Fools’ Day, Trump was sure he could dispense with the qualifier because not one of the exit faction at his meeting had said anything.

Who are the exit faction which was biting its tongue on April 1? The Time report of its sources suggests they are Chief Staff Susan Wiles, Counsel David Warrington, pollster Tony Fabrizio; Vice President JD Vance.

Who are the escalation faction which gained the upper hand? The Time report suggests they include Stephen Miller, Steven Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Secretary of War Peter Hegseth, National Security Advisor Marco Rubio, Joint Chiefs Chairman Daniel Caine, and perhaps CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

How and when they gained the upper hand is unclear. The evidence of the Calendar is that when Trump is left “alone” – that is recorded as “executive time”, “lunch lid”, “full lid”, “signing time”, “golf”; “Mar-a-Lago” – the language and meaning of his tweets become more violent, more stream of consciousness, more uncontrolled. From general press reporting it is believed that when Trump is “alone”, he watches television and carefully prepared videoclips of the military action in Iran, elsewhere in the Middle East, Venezuela, and other battlefields.  He often watches in the company of others.

Identification of those others is a state secret. The press reporting to date suggests they are family members like his sons, his son-in-law Kushner,  and Miller. Trump’s wife is not included [12].   Miller plays a key role in supervising Trump’s tweets;  he has made a public record of violence that comes closest to Trump’s in its genocidal targeting and in its religiosity.  Miller and Kushner are Jewish Chabad zealots; Trump’s tweet references to “Hell”,  “Glory to God”, “Praise be to Allah”, and to the Easter crucifixion and resurrection, are prompted, reinforced and repeated [13] by them.

There is no sign of Vice President Vance on Trump’s calendar. He used to be listed as having  lunch with Trump regularly after the weekly intelligence briefing. The weekly briefing remains on the schedule; Vance does not.  It’s also unclear what the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) is these days, and whether Trump himself gets it on paper or in person or on video [14]. The calendar also reveals another figure who is missing in action. This is the National Security Advisor (NSA) Marco Rubio (aka Secretary of State ). The published maps of the White House West Wing show that the NSA office is further away from Trump than has been the usual practice in the past. The influence of the NSA has always been his control of the papers going to the President’s desk to read, and his physical proximity for talking to the President through the inner doors of the West Wing to the President’s private study. In Trump’s case, however, he has turned the study into a souvenir shop [15]; he doesn’t read papers; the NSA doesn’t talk to him alone; and most of Trump’s “executive time” is spent in the private quarters upstairs.

Trump’s attraction to violence, verbal and physical; to violence in the family and to sex – documented by Mary Trump’s case book, Too Much and [18]Never Enough [19]   — and to violence in films has led to his taste in participation in live Situation Room videofeed transmissions of battlefield operations when he is often accompanied by Hegseth and General Caine.

The latest tweet record may reveal that Trump was included in some of the footage recording the rescue of the downed F-15 crewman – “highly respected colonel” — from southwestern Iran. However, the reason Trump has tweeted this so enthusiastically is political. He is covering up his fear of a new US hostage-taking by the Iranians and of the electorally disastrous impact of President Jimmy Carter’s failed hostage rescue mission in Iran in April 1980. That was Operation Eagle Claw [20]; eight US soldiers killed; two aircraft destroyed; no hostages rescued.

The weekend rescue now being celebrated by Trump is part of the inaptly named Operation Epic Fury.   In Trump’s efforts to focus on the success of the latest operation, he and his staff are concealing media investigation of the evidence from Iran that for the one hostage saved, at least two US aircraft have been hit and destroyed, possibly three [21],  with an uncounted number of dead, wounded or captured [22].

“The CIA pulled off a diversion, according to Axios, reportedly by planting fake information that the second airman had already been rescued and was being driven out of Iran. The agency used ‘unique capabilities’ to search and locate them. ‘This was the ultimate needle in a haystack but in this case it was a brave American soul inside a mountain crevice, invisible but for CIA’s capabilities,’ an official told the outlet. The Pentagon and White House then ordered an immediate rescue mission. Two MC-130J Air Force special operations transport planes landed at an landing airport near the downed airman. A regional intelligence official briefed on the mission told the Associated Press that the US military blew up two transport planes due to a technical malfunction. Reports suggest they make have got stuck in mud and were blown up on the ground by US forces to prevent them falling into Iranian hands. US forces then used three other transport planes to carry the airman and his rescuers out of Iran, according to the New York Times.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/apr/05/timeline-us-military-jets-shot-down [25] For the US losses, see also: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/04/04/us-pilot-rescue-iran-f15-crash/ [26] and https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/05/us/iran-airman-fighter-jet-rescue-mission.html [27]

[28]

“Military officials were assisted by the C.I.A., which used a special piece of technology unique to the agency to locate the airman hiding in the mountain crevice and confirm his identity. U.S. and Israeli officials gathered intelligence to determine if the airman was alone, surrounded by Iranians or had been captured…All of the commandos were safe and accounted for. There were no U.S. casualties. The moment of celebration seemed to pass quickly for Mr. Trump, who on Easter Sunday morning returned to the reality of an unpopular war for which he seemed to have no clear exit strategy. The airman was safe, but the Strait of Hormuz was still in Iranian control, imperiling as much as 20 percent of the world’s oil supply and the global economy.” https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/05/us/iran-airman-fighter-jet-rescue-mission.html [27] For more detail on the number and type of US aircraft which were destroyed in the operation, click to read this [29].

The misspellings in Trump’s tweets reveal how “alone” he is when he is in “executive time”.  The most telling is Trump’s tweet on the afternoon of April 4: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!”  The deal line is Witkoff’s; the hell and god lines are from Miller and Kushner; the phrase “reign down on them” is pure, pathological Trump.

It signifies an 11-year old’s  literacy level [30]  in a 79-year old psychopath [31]  who knows it and is trying to disprove the disability by showing extra zeal in correct spelling. The zeal in re-spelling the obvious “rain” as the monarchical “reign” is a symptom, not a slip. Just so, Trump’s tweet supervisor, Miller has demonstrated his own symptoms by failing to notice or to correct the spelling, as has been done with spelling mistakes in the past.

[32]

“There is little sense inside the administration that Mr. Miller has lost his standing with Mr. Trump. Far from acknowledging defeat, Mr. Miller appears to have simply adjusted his strategy in an effort to minimize political fallout” -- https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/05/us/politics/stephen-miller-immigration-agenda.html [33]
